How Can One Lose Weight Loss When Having Asthma And Hypothyroidism?

Hi Doctor, I m a 30 year old female with history of asthma, and hypothyroidism. I m overweight. The moment I try and to do any workout I start wheezing severely and does not stop for next hour or so. Later I feel very tired. My tsh, t3, t4 is under normal limits. I take asthalin only when l have wheezing and thyronorm 100mcg daily. Please suggest any medication or alternative plan to help me work out.

Hi,

Your symptoms suggest exercise-induced asthma. This is a condition in which the airway gets narrow on stenosis exercises and all symptoms like a cough, wheezing; chest tightness may occur and may last for an hour.

The treatment is to use an inhaler like ventolin inhaler few minutes before exercise. If this work you just need to use it. We may need to increase the dose of inhalers if needed. However, this all should be done by your doctor who would assess you and advise which inhaler to use and which time. So talk to your asthma doctor or asthma clinic. Your thyroid is fine and remains unrelated here.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
