Hello,

Your son’s case sounds like anxiety-related chest pain as tests ruled out heart and lung problems. The medicines prescribed by the treating doctor can help in the short term, but they should never be stopped suddenly to avoid severe withdrawal symptoms. The medicines need slow tapering, gradual tapering to avoid rebound symptoms.

Gradual tapering of medicines is always done under the psychiatrist’s guidance or under doctors in a detox center as the withdrawal symptoms need to be managed in time. Mood, anxiety, sleep needs to be monitored. Do deep breathing, and daily exercise to control anxiety naturally. Caffeine and nicotine can worsen withdrawal symptoms so avoid it.

Keep connected with the treating psychiatrist or doctor because even if your son feels fine now, the psychiatrist needs to decide the right timing and sequence for tapering. Stopping too soon can cause symptoms to return or withdrawal effects. Always tapering medicines under the treating doctor's guidance is best. Do not try to do it yourself.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
