How Can Opiate Addiction Be Treated?

I just found out that my adult son has a opiate addiction. He just told me and says that he wants to get clean. He is supposedly taking 4-6 1000mg Norcos a day. Can I take him to his MD or do I need to take him elsewhere. Or is there a natural way to help with the withdrawels? I don t think that weaning him down is going to work...he says he has tried that.

Treatment varies but may include discontinuing the drug. Medication such as methadone can help alleviate the symptoms of withdrawal and cravings. Pairing medication with inpatient or support programmes generally has the most success.
