Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi, I had a severe attack of cold sore on my bottom lip, it took 10 days to get better, also I felt couple of spots inside my lower lip at that time I thought they might be a ulcer, however I have still got them, they don't hurt they are almost same colour as my inner lip, should I be worried about it, also my lips are bit tender Many thanks
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of oral herpes which is mainly viral infection which occur due to coming in contact with infected person, razors, towels, dishes, and sometimes the virus becomes dormant in the nerve tissues and gets reactivated when stimulus is there.
Need not to worry. I would suggest you to visit oral physician/pathologist once and get Viral DNA test to confirm the diagnosis . Doctor may prescribe antiviral drugs medications such as Acyclovir along with anti inflammatory medications. Maintain complete oral hygiene and drink plenty of fluids.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Get Well Soon.
Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
