How Can Osteoarthritis In The Knees Be Treated?

I have osteoarthritis in my knees my left knee has a bone spur or bone chip in it - this morning when I got out of bed I could not put my weight on it. Also very painful laying down as well. When do I seek out a Dr. who can do x-rays and see if I am in need of surgery or not. I took 2 Aleve and sprayed icy hot on it my hip and ankle were in pain as well. I wore a knee brace today. It helped. Thank you tlon

Hi
Thank you for asking HCM

I have gone through your query with diligence. If you send me the picture of the x ray of knee then it will be more helpful to understand your problem effectively. Osteoarthritis initial stages are managed with NSAIDs,diacerin, viscous agent injections. In advanced stages surgery is the definite treatment. In this total knee replacement is the effective remedy.
Thanks.
