How Can Outbreak Of Mersa Be Treated ?

merca My boyfriend had a spot on his knee went to emergency room they cut it open put him on medication when he went back for a check up they said it came back as merca and put him on doxycilin and told him to take it all so he dont get any more. Wrll now 2 weeks later he has had 2 more as pots or outbreaks. How do we get this stuff to stop????

As per ur history about Merca & recurrence after 2 weeks it may be because of residual infection & due to resistance of microorganism to doxycyclin to.

visit Ur Consulting Physician
Get Microbiological examination Culture & Sensitivity reports from specimen obtained from those recent pots/outbreaks & Further lab reports which will be adviced by ur Consultant.

once we get reports regarding sensitivity & resistance of microorganism causing merca to particular group of antibiotics . A course of specific Antibiotics for particular duration will resolve the issue.

Please avoid taking Antibiotics over the counter Without Culture & sensitivity reports in ur Boyfriend's case ; since it may potentialy lead to resistance to those antibiotics if not taken in proper way.

Keep Personal hygiene & Proper Wound care.

Use Proper handwashing.
