How Can Pain And Burning Sensation In The Throat Be Treated?

Hi... 3 days ago I took a Nurofen and it felt like it went down the wrong way. Ever since it feels like something is lodged in my throat. It burns and really hurts to swallow food or liquid. I got pain in my upper chest and down my entire wind pipe. What can I do to help it?

Hi Dear,

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have pain and burning sensation in the throat which is pointing towards a condition known as gastroesophageal reflux disease which is leading to upper chest pain as well. I would suggest you to consult ENT specialist once for proper diagnosis. Doctor may order barium swallow study and blood tests and start treatment accordingly. For now avoid carbonated drinks , spicy food , alcohol and acidic foods. Do not lay down immediately after having food. Do warm saline gargles. Take combination of antibiotic along with anti-inflammatory medications. Take antacids.

Hope your concern has been resolved.

Get Well Soon.

Best Wishes,
