How Can Pain And Swelling In The Feet Be Treated?

Broke my ankle 15-20 years ago. Have 2 plates and 9 screws in that ankle. Always loved to go barefooted, and hit toes on that foot several times. Changed to a more intense exercise place. I take aleve. , am 70 years old, and trying to gradually work myself into program. My foot hurt, swells and not in same place each time. Would love to continue but need your advise. Have exercised since retiring, 11 yrs ago. Would compression socks help my situation? What do you advise.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello

It may be due to blunt trauma as you walk barefoot or venous congestion. Kindly avoid bare foot walking. Do leg elevation at night. Avoid over exertion. Kindly consult with orthopedician and do c\x ray to rule out any other possibilities.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care.

Regards,
Dr Shyam Kale
