Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
How Can Pain And Swelling In The Joints And Fingers Be Treated?
I am suffering from inflamed joints and swelling of my fingers. My Dr. did a Rheumatoid test on me plus exrays which showed sugnificant joint degeneration of my fingers. She placed me on Celabrex but I had a adverse reaction to it. What can I do to help the pain and decrease the degeneration of joints going on? My Rheumatoid test was negative.
If the joint xray showed degeneration and changes in the joints while you have swelling and the joints feel inflamed then very likely you have Rheumatoid Arthritis.
Rheumatoid factor is not found in 100% of patients with RA and its absence does not rule it out. In some cases patients with RA with lack for rheumatoid factor have a more aggressive and progressive form of RA.
If RA is your diagnosis you will need DMARDs, which are drugs that modify the disease progression. Your doctor should prescribe them.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Antoneta Zotaj, General & Family Physician
