How Can Pain And Swelling In The Left Knee Be Treated?

My left knee hurts, it is swollen but not hot. it pops and sometimes I can feel something moving in it when I walk or stand. It hurts to straighten it and it hurts to walk at times it feels as if it is going to give out. This has been going on for one week.
