How Can Pain And Swelling In The Wrist Be Treated?

My 22 year-old grandson started a job in a wood-processing plant on Tuesday. He noticed his wrist hurting and it is swollen. I held above his wrist as he flexed it. I could feel the rubbing vibration Is this something for which he should see a doctor. Would an anti-inflammatory help? .

My best advice is to dial down on the manual labor, and gradually increase in intensity as he gets more experienced. For symptomatic relief I would recommend wrist band and NSAIDs for a week or so, provided he does not have heart condition or history of stomach ulcers.
