How Can Pain And Tingling Sensation In The Lower Left Leg Be Treated?

I had spinal fusion surgery, laminectomy with hardware of L-3/L-4,L-4/L-5, with Dura tear at L-4 3 weeks ago. I experienced immediate relief of pain and tingling in my lower left leg and ankle, however, I ve had painful swelling of my buttocks and upper thighs up to my beltline. The whole area is in constant pain and sore to the touch, while the surgical site is only mildly painful on occassion. This pain and annoying swelling keeps me from walking as far as I should be walking at this point in my recovery. What gives and when should it subside?

This indicates peripheral neuropathy, which is a result of damage to your peripheral nerves, often causes weakness, numbness and pain, usually in your hands and feet. It can also affect other areas of your body. Treatment actually depends on the right cause. Most common causes are diabetes, alcoholism, inherited disorders or trauma and medications however, many other causes may be seen so tests are required to identify the right one. Till that you can do some general remedies: Avoid factors that may cause nerve damage, including repetitive motions, cramped positions, exposure to toxic chemicals, smoking and overindulging in alcohol. Also take vitamin d supplements and regulate blood sugar levels.
