How Can Pain Around A Bartholin S Abscess Be Treated?

I had an excision of the vulva back in 2016 because I had Bartholin gland flare up. The mass they remove was the size of my baseball, I am not too sure if they removed the gland but I am still in pain... Now the other side is acting up but one doc is saying surgery to remove the gland and reconstruct the original side... but other is saying no, she doesn t want to do that. I am in pain on both sides and haven t had relations with my husband for 9 months.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I would suggest through local examination followed by a swab culture test from the parts.

A sufficiently long course with relevant antibiotics and anti-inflammatory drugs to achieve complete relief from acute infection recommended.

This is the time to review for preventive management or surgery for good control. Also, please consult an expert.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Vasudha Jayant Athavale
