Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My son was in a head on Collision Week ago today. Sustained several injuries. He can t see Dr until Friday next week for his shin injury. The affected area has a 3 inch scab with stitches. and it s red around the scab and he says it hurts. What can we do until he sees the Dr?
Good care should be taken of the wound. This includes daily wash with saline or clean water. Apply some topical antibiotics like Polyfax skin ointment. Cover the wound with a clean dry bandage. Daily wash once or twice. Hopes this would be fine in some times.
Also, important is to receive a Tetanus Toxoid (TT). This is very important if not already done. Use some painkiller like Brufen or Paracetamol for the pain.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Mahboob Ur Rahman,
