How Can Pain Be Managed While Treating Neural Foraminal Stenosis?

I am 68 yr old female with degenerative changes result in varying degrees of neural foraminal narrowing without central canal stenosis. L/5 and S1 severe narrowing right neural foramen and disc contact exiting nerve root within the right neural foramen. Also a right lateral disc osteophyte complex that mildly contacts the exiting nerve root just lateral to the right neural foramen. Pain Management for 3 years this June. The steroid shots do not work any more. Tried nerve block Feb 22nd 2017 and 14 days later my pain is back! I am afraid of not being able to manage the pain any more. Help!

Addiction Medicine Specialist 's  Response
Hello,

Actually, there are several non-narcotic nerve pills that are often somewhat helpful and are very safe: gabapentin, pregabalin and amitryptiline are some.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
