How Can Pain Behind The Knee Be Treated?

8months ago I had a rt tibial fracture caused by a wave in the ocean and snapped it in 3 places. I had a bone graft,6 screws and a plate placed in my leg. I ve done my pt and continue to excersize. Had a Dr appt yesterday from a pain in the back/ outerside of my knee. They say it s probably a meniscus tear. Or a screw is catching. Do I have to take the screw out? If it s a tear, will they have to take off the plate?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

As a first line management you can take analgesics like paracetamol or aceclofenac for pain relief.

If symptoms persists, better to go for an arthroscopic repair.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain,
