Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My 60 year old son has a bulging disk in his back which is pressing on a nerve, and is quite painful. He had a series of shots to relieve the pain and it helped for a short period of time, But now has stopped helping. The doctor has suggested back surgery. I heard about this decompression treatment and wanted information before I inform him. Would this decompression treatment help him. Is there any danger? My son at 44 had a quadruple bypass & several months ago two of the arteries had closed and he had a stent put in the other artery was to far gone. In 2010 he had a kidney transplant. So I am very scared for him to have the back surgery. He works in heating & air conditioning & said he just can t continue with the pain. Any information you can give me would be really appreciated.
Thanks for your question on Healthcare Magic. I can understand your concern. He had already tried multiple steroid shots but Stiller having pain. So surgical correction of herniated disc is the only option. Since he is having recent angioplasty, there is always a risk during and after surgery. He can not take take pain killer drugs for long time because of renal transplant. So it is better to get operated because there will be always risk in his case. Results of operated herniated disc are very good and satisfactory. Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wishing good health to your son. Thanks.
