How Can Pain In The Achilles Tendon Be Treated?

I am a semi-pro volleyball player, male, 48 yrs old, about 6 ft tall and 198 lbs. Recently I ve been feeling pain in the Achilles tendon of my right foot. It started as a minor pain an today when I played, it got worse after some major jumps and moves. After the game the pain went back to nearly zero but I ve been concerned if I should let it rest or continue to play. IF it is semi-ruptured what are symptoms and how a completed detachment can be prevented? Thanks

Hello

I would like to suggest you to follow the undermentioned tips to stay away from the pain
1. Ice packs: Applying these to the tendon, when in pain or after exercising, can alleviate pain and inflammation.
2. Resting: No doubt this will help in treating it. You should take rest atleast for 4 weeks. This gives the tissue time to heal. ...
3. Pain relief: Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDS), such as ibuprofen, can reduce pain and swelling.

Symptoms include:

1. Discomfort or swelling in the back of your heel
2. Tight calf muscles
3. Limited range of motion when flexing your foot
4. Skin on your heel overly warm to the touch
5. The main symptom of Achilles tendonitis is pain and swelling in the back side of your heel when you walk or run.

Proper rest will definitely help you.

Thanks
