How Can Pain In The Ears Be Treated?

my daughter (17 years old) went to carespot about 2 weeks ago for ear pain, she was given Amoxicillin, since the pain was still there after 2/4 days, we went back, and the doctor gave her Cipro orally. She was ok for about a week, but the pain is back. She is a competitive swimmer. Do I need to take her back to a doctor or can we try some alternatives home treatments?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I think she should finish the entire course of antibiotics together with Acetaminophen or Ibuprofen for pain. Also she can take Cetirizine for congestion and ear drops with antibiotics and corticosteroid. This way she can fight the infection.

Also use warm compresses on ear. After finishing the treatment and if she doesn't feel better you should visit an ENT doctor soon.

Hope I have answered the question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Thank you.
