How Can Pain In The Rib Cage Be Treated?

I was punched in the ribs pretty hard two weeks ago went to the er they said nothing was broken. Never felt any better actually my ribs did a loud pop a few times and with that the pain started over. The second doctor thinks it broken and was over looked on x-ray is that possible? And how do I get this painful popping to stop?

Even if broken,it wouldn't change your therapy. painkillers (nsail, paracetamol) and patience! every movement, coughing, laughing will cause pain to flare up and what ever you do it will take 3-4 weeks to heal. patience and analgetics.
