How Can Pain On The Right Side Of The Ribs Be Treated?
Two weeks ago, I fell on side and hit my head on a chest. Had 5 staples in head. I had an xray of ribs as I was having pain from hitting floor. Xray was negative. No broken ribs. I am still having pain in right side and cannot sneeze. What should I do?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
The pain may be due to injury to the muscles and other soft tissue since there was no injury to the ribs.
The use of a warm compress to the area as well as pain medication and a cough or sneezing suppressant may be appropriate.
Anti-inflammatory pain medication may be the better option e.g., Naproxen, Ibuprofen. An over the counter cough or cold or allergy medication that contains a cough suppressant would also help control the sneezing.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Michelle Gibson James
