Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I m very tired of hearing about pain meds. It s like you are a terrible person when people talk about that and rude people at the pharmacy. I have fibromyalgia and I wouldn t be able to walk, be social, etc without my pain meds. As doctors, you all should know if someone has chronic pain, (as fibromyalgia)they need pain meds. Let s get off that rumors. We re not an 19 yr old that wants Vicodin! ( by the way, I hate that med and will never take it)
See you need to sort it out what is the etiology of your problem and how it can be treated in order to be pain-free. Whether it is inflammatory, autoimmune or hereditary, etc., all this can be sorted out if you go to a general physician once.
If you have intense pain, there is something called pain clinic, which is run by anesthesiologists. If you go there and if your problems fit their criteria, then they do treat you with painkillers and many more procedures. This can reduce your pain and you will have symptom free interval more.
It is not bad also to subside the pain with painkillers. You should not tolerate too much pain also it's not good for health.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Archana
