How Can Painful Infection In The Finger Nail Be Treated?

my friends middle finger on his left hand had a black line in the finger nail and now has moved up the nail, and the tip of his finger kinda looks whitish and very hard. it wakes him up at night because it is painful. and it feels better the colder it is. so in cold water it feels better than warm water that makes it hurt more. very tender

It looks like fungal infection and you may use other antifungal treatments, such as antifungal nail lacquer or topical solutions. These treatments are brushed onto the nail in the same way that you would apply nail polish. Depending on the type of fungus causing the infection, as well as the extent of the infection, you may have to use these medications for several months. Topical solutions are not generally effective in curing toenail fungal infections.Wish you good health. Regards
