How Can Painful Muscle Pull On The Back Be Treated?

About every six months I have a torn or pulled muscle injury that acts up in my back.On the right side of my back where my bra strap comes across. In the past when it would act up it would be quick stabbing pains. I usually last for a week. This time it actually burns even if I put an ice pack on it. I can sit or stand just a certain way and It is ok for awhile, but one slightest wrong mover and it feels like that spot is on fire. I was wondering if acupuncture was safe to try. This has been happening on and off now for the last 5-6 yrs.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

As first-line management, you can take analgesics like paracetamol or aceclofenac for pain relief.
If symptoms persist better to consult an orthopedic and plan for an MRI scan.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
