Sir i am suffering from slip disc..... It been 1 month My pain was never very severe but yes there was pain. YESTERDAY while traveling by bike my pain comes once again. So my question is in how many months my body will become fit and what are the dos and don ts. My age is 24(male)
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Slipped disk is a common problem and most of the cases would heal itself. The healing rate goes very high with physiotherapy. The physiotherapy depends on the site and direction of the slipped disk so it would be best to see a physiotherapist. He would also advise you the precautionary measures during slipped disc like not to lift heavy weights.
About 7O percentage or even more cases heal within a few weeks or in few months. But few cases where pain persists may need surgery. Similarly, surgery is needed in emergency cases when there is sever disk slip that compresses the cord which may present with incontinence or paralysis of the limbs.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Mahboob Ur Rahman
