How Can Painful Swelling Behind Left Ear Be Eased?

Hi, I have a lump behind my left ear. It started out the size of a pin head and over a 15 month period grew to the size of a pea. It could not be seen, only felt with your fingers. Three days ago I was feeling it to see if it had gotten larger and the next morning it was much bigger, larger than a marble, very painful to the touch and could easily be seen. Is there something that I can do to ease the swelling? I have RA and take prednisone daily along with Humira shots weekly, so I am worried about the treatment for this lump.

Hello

The lump is most likely a lymph node and the pain suggests that it has got infected and you may need antibiotics for it!. Please meet your ent doctor for further examination and prescription.
Thanks
