How Can Peripheral Neuropathy In The Legs Be Treated?

My Mother is 88 yrs old . she has neuropathy in her feet and legs, she has been living in an assisted living facility, because of balance issues and falling , they have confined her to a wheelchair. Over the past 6 months she has lost more and more of her ability to stand by herself , and is chair or bed bound all the time. is there anything I can do to help her regain what she has lost? would physical therapy help, or a rehabilitation place. are there medicines that she could take that would help her. She has longevity in her genes- both her parents lived to around a hundred yrs. old i hate to see her spend 5 to 10 yrs bed ridden if there is something I can do to help her i would appreciate your advice, thank you

The treatment depends on the cause of neuropathy.

There are no specific drugs, besides vitamins (B complex) and alpha lipoic acid.Physiotherapy has been always helpful. It is also necessary treat the cause of neuropathy (vitamin B12 deficiency or diabetes, etc.).
