How Can Persistent Eye Area Darkness Be Treated?

Hi my mum is around 45yrs n she has developed darkness under her eye. Pharmacist gave melacare to use at night. My mum uses it every night more thsn 1 yr now, also she lives in fiji. The darknesss seems to be replaced with a blotch of bright redness. When she stops the cream then darkness reappears, so she continues to use melacare and there is a constant bright redness under her eye

Hello,

Your mom may be having periorbital hypermelanosis. There may be some cause like vitamin deficiencies, anemia, stress, tension, sleeplessness, thyroid dysfunction, internal disease, etc. Kindly consult the dermatologist for the perfect diagnosis and proper treatment.

Avoid Melacare cream application as it contains hydroquinone which might cause localized side effects. Kojic acid containing gel application and oral vitamin C, glutathione may be considered.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Ilyas Patel
