How Can Persistent Otitis Externa Be Treated?

i have otite externa and my doctor prescripted me polydexa drops times a day for 7 days and now my ear is clogged after applying it is it okay ? i ve been suffering from this for 3 months now i ve been to many doctors i tried auricularum but nothing it just worsned my situation what should i do ? is it chronic ? (sorry but english isn t my first language)

Hi Dear,

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of otitis externa which seems to be due to presence and persistence of infection. It seems chronic.

Need not to worry. I would suggest you to

- Apply warm compresses on ear.

- Maintain complete hygiene.

- Put corticosteroid ear drops and keep your ears dry.

- Avoid pricking ear with any sharp object.

I would suggest you to consult ENT specialist for proper examination without any delay as chances of spreading infection further to middle and inner ear and complications like tinnitus. Doctor may examine with otoscope and may prescribe antibiotics like gentamycin for at least for 10 days along with decongestants and anti inflammatory medications.
