How Can Persistently Low White Blood Count Levels Be Treated?

My husband has had a low white blood count for years, and his physician finally informed him to see a Hematologist. He is healthy, and has had this issue for over 20 years. My husband s current physician can probably work with him on this issue, but does not want to. We probably need to search for a new PCP, but in the meantime, what can we do for this issue? Thank you.

Hello,

Low white cell count may be due to bone marrow problems, or radiation or drugs like antibiotics or chemotherapy or viral Infection like hepatitis or nutrient like B 12 deficiency or folic acid deficiency, etc.

Until examination is done, it is difficult to say what it is. Please get it done peripheral smear study, bone marrow aspiration, serum B12 and folic acid levels etc.
