How Can Pigmented Spots On The Labia, Gum And Lip Be Tested?

I have pigmented spots on inner labia, gum, and lower lip that showed up about 3 years ago for first time. I m 40 years old and no known he of intestinal polyps or GI symptoms but reading about these pigmented lesions has me worried about Peutz Jeghers syndrome? Or could it be benign like LHS? How can I test for this.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Peutz- Jegjers syndrome can present like this, you can consult a gastroenterologist and get a colonoscopy done to look for any polyps in your rectum as Peutz-Jeghers invariably present with a associated polyps. Other possibility is Melanesia which is nothing but simple dark colored spots. You can consult a dermatologist and he will direct you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
