Hi, my dad is currently in hospital having pleural effusion, although the drainage has slowed down they say he has a leak in his lung, why would this be, also his bloods came back normal including white blodd cells etc, surley if the fluid from his lungs was cancerous it would show in his bloods, is that right, thanks

How Can Pleural Effusion Be Treated?
Hello welcome to the health care magic There are many causes for pleural effusion and if blood is seen it is not 100% that case is cancer. For reach up to cause pleural fluid biochemical analysis and fluid cytology needs to be done... Provide that report for further comment. In cytology if cancer cells seem than need further work up Hope your concern solved Take care
