Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I just had myringotomy done on both my ears 2 days ago. I had OME for 2.5 mos prior to the procedure. But after the procedure, both my ears still feel plugged and I can hear myself breathe and talk. Is this normal? I thought after the procedure all the symptoms will go away. I am taking antibiotic and carbocisteine only now. The doctor told me to take it for 1 month. I am getting depressed as this condition is draining me. And because of the plugged feeling, I cant help but do the vasalva movement which is not doing anything actually. I need your help. Thanks.
I have gone through your query regarding plugged ear, though you are neither having any ear infection nor have allergy. Here I would like to say that your both ears are plugged simultaneously therefore possibility is of eustachian tube dysfunction. Second possibility is of impacted wax. So I would like to advice for-
1- Steam inhalation.
2- Anti histaminic and decongestant.
3- Walsalva manuever.
Probably above will help you otherwise you have to consult ENT doctor for examination and treatment.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
