Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
is it ok for a 6 yr. old child, weighing only 41 lbs., to skip a meal? He only typically eats peanut butter sandwiches, chicken tenders & French fries or macaroni & cheese for his lunch/dinner meals, and never vegetables. His hair is healthy, but you can see his ribs.
General & Family Physician, Dr. Ajith J S's Response
Well, boys of growing age will naturally be a little skinny, due to all the running around. So right now don't worry too much. From your part, make sure he is deformed every six months, given iron rich fruits like dates, pomegranate and fish. If he doesn't eat vegetables and fruits, atleast get him to eat homemade sweets with peanuts and jaggery. And if you are giving him peas and gram, soak them in tm water two nights before, sprout them and give. No need for any supplements or tablets. Thank you.
