How Can Poor Eyesight Be Treated?

My daughter, aged two years has been diagnosed with +5/=3.095 in one eye and -/+2.590 in the other. This is the initial power given. The prognosis is 6/36 and 6/38 in the eyes. It has been mentioned that its genetic. She is an adopted baby so there is a total absence of history. What precautions are needed now and later? What should I look out for? What adaptations do i need to bring to her diet? How normal a life would she be able to live? Is the power in her eye likely to worsen with age?
