How Can Post Menopausal Vaginitis Be Treated?

I am a post menopausal woman dealing with post menopausal vaginitis. My gyn dr has treated me with an antifungal gel (metronidizole) for the past several months. The discharge has gone from light yellow in color to almost brown and has gotten heavier. Is this just the natural progression of this problem or should I make an appointment with my dr? Also, how long does this type of problem last. I have been dealing with this over a year. Thanks you for your help.

Hi, I think you should consult a gynecologist for complete examination. Get a pelvic examination done to rule out any cervical pathology. Also get a ultrasound done to see the endometrial thickness. If it is more than 4 mm, you may need an endometrial biopsy to rule out any endometrial pathology. Hope it helps.
