How Can Post Nasal Drip Be Treated?

I have post nasal drip and now my throat feels like I have a little swelling at theback of my throat. It almost feels like Muslims is stuck back there. I cannot see any problem. No soreness, no fever . we have been having wood fires for the last couple months and this dries out my sinuses. Is there something I should do to clear the post nasal drip and sinus affect. I am 63 yo.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Your work up can be done as follows:

- CBC
- Rhinoscopy nose examination
- PNS x ray of sinuses

According to examination and report, if specific cause found, then further management plan can be decided. Steam inhalation should be done three times a day with warm water. Salt water gargle is also useful.

Vitamin C lozenges or tablets can be beneficial. Decongestant like Levocetirizine can be prescribed. Also, consult the Otorhinolaryngologist for examination and get your prescription.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Parth Goswami
