Hello,
Thank you for using Healthcaremagic to post your question. I read it carefully and I understand your concern.
To confirm if you are pregnant of not I would suggest the following:
-- Wait for a couple more days for your period and if they haven't come yet then do a
pregnancy test. It is the most cheap, quick and easy way to confirm pregnancy but it can be false negative in this time. In general it is very accurate if done 5-7 days after the expected period date.
-- Do a pregnancy test today, but most probably it wont show more, because it is too early to show anything on it. So, if positive then pregnancy is confirmed. If negative, repeat it after 7 days.
-- Consider measuring the bHCG in the blood, which is a very accurate test. If it is positive, then it will confirm weather you are pregnant or not. It is more expensive though and you will need to go to a lab so they can draw blood and do the test.
The day of the intercourse is very close to a possible date of ovulation when you have higher chances to get pregnant.
So it is good that you took the emergency pill which may have effect until 72 hours after the intercourse (as the name suggests). But as the hours pass, the effect of the pill is lower.
Hope this is helpful and answers your question. Let me know if you have other questions or concerns.
Kind regards,
Dr. Papaqako.
