How Can Pregnancy Be Confirmed?

Today i took a pregnancy test but it is negative but the doctor suggests to wait for some more days as she thought that symptoms are of pregnancy. Now she has given me and my husband a tablet named Myfol for three months. I wanted to know whether I am pregnanct or not and why doctor suggested us

Hello. Thanks for asking on Healthcaremagic. Pregnancy test from urine detects urine beta hcg a hormone produced in pregnancy. However in early stages the hormones level might be low and it could be falsely negative. A more sensitive test is beta hcg from blood which detects pregnancy earlier than the urine test. A transvaginal ultrasound might be another option depending upon last menstrual period date. The doctor has given you folic acid tablets I think. In case you are pregnant it is essential for the baby s nervous system well being. Thanks. Hope you are having a good day.
