How Can Pressure In The Ears And Impaired Hearing Be Treated?
When I fly commercially across country, my ears don t adjust to the pressure after landing. I have pressure in my ears and my hearing is somewhat impaired due to the congestion (like being underwater). I returned home on an LA to New York flight on 7/13-14, but more symptoms persist... a dry cough producing small amounts of phlegm, pressure in my ears and congestion (not sinuses). Taking non-drowsy sudofed, a guafenesine cough medicine and flonase. My doctor is no help. Help! I m flying to Montana for a week on on 7/28 and want to be free of this problem!
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of pressure in ears and impaired hearing which seems to be due to eustachian tube dysfunction, ear wax build up and fluid accumulation. Need not to worry. I would suggest you to do warm saline gargles and take steam twice a day and apply warm dry compresses to external ear. Do valsa maneuvers and consult ENT specialist for proper diagnosis. Doctor will examine by otoscope to check level of infection and may prescribe antibiotics amoxicillin at least for a week along with decongestants. Avoid touching or pricking it with any sharp object and maintain hygiene of ear canal. Put Otogesic ear drops.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
