How Can Prolonged Vaginal Bleeding Be Treated?

I delivered a baby 3 and 1/2 months back. Since last 20 days I am bleeding continuously. I went through sonography which shows that endometrium thickness is 19 MM. Doctor suggested to take hormonal pills and stop breastfeeding for those many days. Is the solution correct? What can be the reason behind this thickness?

Hello
Thanks for writing to us.

Your doctor has prescribed you a right line of treatment.
The bleeding that is happening after delivery is because of the lining of the uterus, which has grown to be very thick during pregnancy, sloughs off after delivery and removal of the placenta.

I hope you are helped.

Thanks
Dr. Tripat Mehta
