7 month old infant has a paular rash on etremities only, rash does not seem to bother him. Afebrile, no cough ,cold, or GI symptoms, breast fed has only had rice cereal, rash appered before intoduction of food, no new lotion ect..... I am grandma and I told his mom to just try adding 1/4 cup of vinegar to night time bath ( to alter ph a little) What thoughts do you have?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Do not apply vinegar or other corrosive substances to his body. It can damage the delicate skin of the baby. Most often it can be a baby acne or heat rash. Generally it will subside by it own even without treatment. You can apply calamine lotion or alo vera lotion for symptomatic relief. If rashes persist for long, consult a pediatrician and get evaluated.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain
