How Can Pus Filled Bumps On The Scalp Be Treated?

I ve had an infection on my scalp for months. It s very sore, I ve had 3 rounds of the drug Keflex 500 mgs., but the sores have a raised thick pus filled lines surrounding the 2 areas. It s difficult not to want to scratch the area to get rid of the infection.

Hello,

I am sorry for the bad scalp infection you are going through.

Keflex is an antibiotic treating bacterial infection. Apart from taking Keflex orally, appropriate local treatment is required too:
• Wash your scalp with warm water and antibacterial soap
• Rinse thoroughly
• Dry well
• Apply oxygenated water, Betaine 10%, and then antibiotic ointment
• Cover the affected area with antibiotic gauze

If still no improvement, further consultation with a dermatologist is highly recommended.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Albana Sejdini
