How Can Recurrent Cough And Pressure In The Upper Back Be Treated?

Hello. I have a history of getting bad cough that lasts a few months. I avoided it the last two years, but feel like it is coming back. I have upper respiratory symptoms Yellow mucous when I cough still somewhat loose, tightness in upper back, not check where I would expect it - I can take deep breathes.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

You are having chronic cough (cough for more than 2 weeks). So we should definitely rule out lung diseases like lung infection, bronchitis and asthma. So better to consult pulmonologist and get done clinical examination of respiratory system, chest X-ray and PFT. Chest X-ray is needed to rule out lung infection. PFT is must for the diagnosis of bronchitis and asthma. You may need antibiotic, inhaled bronchodilators (Formoterol or Salmeterol) and inhaled corticosteroid (ICS) (Budesonide or Fluticasone) based on the above reports. Don't worry, you will be alright with all these.

Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

As you explain the history this time I recommend you to do a chest X-ray and some blood tests for the lung infection. Please discuss with your doctor

Regards.
