Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I was diagnosed with Epididymitis back in November, was prescribed Metronidazole twice, I felt better and now, about 4 months has passed, I think I still have it. Is it possible that the prescribed drug didn t work? I m scared that what I have/had might not be epididymitis, it might actually be a vas deferens blockage, and that I might become infertile because of it. What should I do???
If your symptoms are back you will need to see your doctor again and have an ultrasound of the testis. Epididimytis is clearly seen in ultrasound. Epididmytis can recur especially if it was infectious (generally this is a sexually transmitted disease) and if you are again in contact with the source of the infection.
It is important to have the proper treatment (you and your partner/s in case it is suspected to be due to a sexually transmitted infection) and apply the principles of safe sex to prevent it from recurring.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards, Dr. Antoneta Zotaj General & Family Physician
