How Can Recurrent Furunculosis In An Infant Be Treated?

Hi. My 15 month old daughter has been diagnosed with recurrent furunculosis. She was prescribed fucidin 2% ointment for the nostrils and prima sulfur 8mg/40mg susp. Two days into using the meds, she got three more breakouts. Is this supposed to happen or should I take her back to the doctor? ...also, is there a bath soap I can use to help her? Currently using Cetaphil

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

You should use Mupirocin ointment for nostrils. Clindamycin pediatric solution in a low dose 3-4 times a day for 2 months should be given. Daily use of Chlorhexidine soap will help and her clothes should be washed daily with dettol.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
