Hello! I had a typhoide fever about 5 months ago that relapsed and according to the tests subsided...I got it while I was stying in Indonesia and now I am back home. However, I started having this horrible back and knee pain, soar throat and sometimes chiles...however, test shows no typhode (they did Widal). My question is, is it possible that I still have it but test here cannot show it? Or is it possible that is some kind of comlication? What shoudl I do next? I dont feel tired, and I eat and sleep normally
Hello Thanks for writing to us regarding your health concern.
It is quite possible that you may have typhoid and it is not showing up You have to very vigilant about your diet pattern. Also I would advise you to take antibiotic Ciprofloxacin for another 7 days. However getting checked with your doctor is a great idea.
Typhoid vaccines are now available. There are two forms of the vaccine available an oral and an injectable form. The oral vaccine is contraindicated in patients with depressed immune systems.
For more details of the vaccine you should contact your health care advisor.
Thanks Dr. Tripat Mehta
