How Can Recurrrent Urinary Tract Infection Be Treated?

I was diagnosed with a urinary tract infection by my GP. Cipro which he normally gives me for my frequent urinary tract infections did not work this time. He prescribed Sulfamethoxazole-TMP and I have taken it for 3 days two times daily. Now I have developed a large circle rash on my abdomen that is bright red and looks like a larger circle outside of a smaller circle. If this is important I have not taken this antibiotic before.

Hello dear. Welcome to Healthcaremagic. I read your query and I understand your concern. It looks like you are suffering from an allergic reaction to sulfometoxazol trimetoprim. You should stop taking it . Do a uroculture to determine the bacteria which is causing it and which antibiotic works best. Cefalexine and ceftriaxon can work.
Take care.
Hope my answer was helpful, if you have any other questions I'll be glad to help you.
Best regards. Dr.Olgeta Xhufka ( general and family physician ).
