How Can Renal Failure Along With Hypertension Be Treated?

We have a 20 year old healthy male, in complete renal failure, high blood pressure 240/120. His complete blood work up came back with all his numbers in the off the charts highs, and lows. The Doctors discovered by ultrasound, that his kidneys are quite a bit smaller than normal size kidneys. He s had 2 rounds of dyallis in last 48 hours, to try to save his kidneys. The dyallis is making him extremely nauseous, and very weak. The Doctors have him on a nitroglycerin drip, which has brought his B/P down to around 180/89. Our Doctors here keep saying, it will take more time to figure out what s wrong with him, because they have NEVER seen anything like this in a 20 year old before!

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Usually, in young adults, essential hypertension, renal artery stenosis and other renal issues as acute glomerulonephritis or others play a very vital role for hypertension with renal failure.

What treatment offered to him in form of dialysis and NTG drip is best at this point in time, lethargy and nausea are part of treatment as well as renal failure.

Let`s hope for the best outcome by this gold standard treatment.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Purva Patel, General & Family Physician
