How Can Ribcage Pain Which Intensifies On Sneezing Or Coughing Be Treated?

About a week ago I had an anterior cervical fusion C6 to C7. After discharge I had a rapid heart rate and had CT etc done to rule out PE which was negative. I had some left sided upper pain following surgery that felt like muscle strain. This pain has gotten much worse in my upper rib area left side. It is not constant but when I change positions, cough, sneeze or blow my nose it is intense. Ideas?
